Emma Evans, the Oceania Women’s Football Manager and Annie Kennedy from Capability Group discuss the Oceania Women’s Football Development capacity building program. While this development program preceded the Oceania Women’s Football Strategy, it’s one of a series of initiatives that is giving women more opportunities in the game and is using football as a tool for social change across eleven Pacific nations. The program supports Women’s Development Officers in each country to develop their leadership and life skills, build their self-confidence and connect with each other, providing support as they grow a local team and build women’s participation in football in their country different roles. Along the way participants find their voice and gain a sense of permission to create change.
